Universe: Zuni Indian
Universe: Zuni Indian
Introduction
From the Zuni indians we hear of Awonawilona, the All-Containing, who is; self-conceived and by his own volition brings himself into being; a feat reminiscent of how the Egyptian god Ra-Khepera brought himself into existence by, essentially, uttering his own name.
Before the; beginning of the new-making there was nothing; else whatsoever throughout the great space of the ages save everywhere black; darkness in it and everywhere void desolation.
The world is a black, desolate, void which transforms into our physical world by Awonawilona's thinking about; the forms needed to populate it. The Uitoto indians of Columbia take this one step further by considering that all of the universe is but the on-gong dream of their chief god Naimuena.
